Khao Man Gai Thai Chicken and Rice (Healthy Version)
Khao man gai or khao mun gai, literally meaning oily rice [with] chicken, is one of the most popular Thai dishes; it can be found everywhere in Thailand from streetfood stalls to restaurants. It is originally from Hainan, China. In Thailand, khao man gai is served with cucumbers, chicken blood tofu, coriander, and a bowl of soup. The heart of khao man gai is the sauce! This recipe is a healthy version of khao man gai; I used less oil and chicken breasts instead of the parts of chicken with fat and skin. Enjoy!
Goong Tod Kratiem Prik Thai (Prawns Fried with Garlic and White Pepper)
This dish uses a classic Thai preparation method of protein. It might not sound like much, but it's a very satisfying dish, especially made with shrimp that's shell-on. We eat the shrimp shell and all, as to not miss out on any flavor. It's also a very kid-friendly dinner dish. Serve with lots of rice.
Yam Taeng (Spicy Cucumber Salad)
This recipe is based on the same flavors as 'Som Tam' (green papaya salad). Packed with flavor; use this salad as a side dish and serve with Thai glutinous rice.
Pad Kee Mow (Drunkard's Noodles)
Pad Kee Mow, or Drunkard's Noodles, is a popular Thai dish. It is my personal favorite when visiting any Thai restaurant. It is made differently by every cook. My girlfriend and I experimented to come up with this version. Feel free to make alterations to suit your own taste! Many ingredients (Thai basil, fish sauce, palm sugar, etc.) may be difficult to find in a regular supermarket, but you can most likely find them in an Asian market.
Thai Sweet Sticky Rice With Mango (Khao Neeo Mamuang)
This wonderful and authentic-tasting Thai dessert is as good, if not better, than any sweet sticky rice with Mango available in Thai restaurants.
Thai Carrot Salad
I got this recipe from the cook at my favorite Thai restaurant in Cincinnati. His carrot salad was one of his most popular salads/appetizers, people would buy multiple orders to go so they could bring this as a take along dish to an event. This is even better made a day ahead.
Thai Chicken Satay
The closest to my favorite satay served at my Thai restaurant. Prep is quick- best if left to marinade for a few hours or more. Skewer up for the grill or saute on the stove! I buy the chicken tenderloin strips which are already boned, skinned and a nice size piece without slicing to save time.
Thai Red Curry Paste
Great for Thai cooking. I got the recipe a long time ago from a friend, who suggested that making red curry paste is better than buying it in the store; he was right! You can mix the ingredients as you like. Curry is something that can be experimented with and should be! Just make sure that you do not remove the ingredients, as it will remove authenticity. For a more mild curry paste, remove and discard the chile pepper seeds.
Thai Chicken Bites With Dipping Sauce
Let guests do the skewering by serving these chicken chunks with toothpicks.
Thai Fried Rice with Pineapple and Chicken
This is a Bangkok street food style recipe which I snagged on a recent trip there. Serve and enjoy. Try a hollowed pineapple shell as a serving bowl.
The Best Thai Coconut Soup
Authentic, bold, and delicious Thai flavors make this soup irresistible! This is the best Thai coconut soup I've had. You won't be disappointed with this one! Serve over steamed rice.
Green Papaya Salad (Som Tam Malakor)
This papaya salad is light and refreshing. I can easily eat a giant bowl of it and be completely satisfied. And as an extra bonus, this salad is pretty healthy. I sometimes add extra chiles because I enjoy a lot of heat. That's what is great about this recipe, it is easily customized to suit individual tastes.
